Tips for Foot Care in Monsoon

Thus, it is most loved seasonal change of the year that brings freshness to every bit of Mother Nature in splendid way.


Coming of the monsoon season is typically characterized as wet, humid and sticky climate which is also known to be the breeding ground for fungal, bacteria and other feet diseases. It is often caused by wearing dirty shoes throughout the day, as a result you return with smelly and unclean feet at home in the evening.

Foot care takes a back seat when compared to our other beauty treatments. Unfortunately, a little care is given to the most strained and worked out part - the feet. Thus, this article will give you tips to keep your feet clean and hygienic during this torrential downpour.

• Intense cleansing of feet is very important in monsoon because they get accumulated with dirt and mud. Wash your feet with antiseptic water as soon as you reach home and keep them clear of any infections. Use natural disinfectants like soda and vinegar in a tub of warm water to kill bacteria.

• After drying, trim your nails and push back the cuticle. Then rinse your feet once again and pat them dry to apply moisturizer for the feet. Moisturizer must be applied every night before sleeping as it will not only help you get rid of the dead skin but also, keep your legs flexible.

• Applying petroleum jelly on feet after cleaning helps to moisturize and prevent water contact directly with skin as it repels water.

• Do not wear closed, tight-fitting footwear as wearing boots and shoes hold water thereby, making it sodden. So, use only slippers or sandals instead.

• Always keep a separate dry pair of work shoes at your office, college locker. So you can swap the wet footwear with dry ones when you reach your work place. That way you avoid sitting uncomfortably in the wet footwear and invite less infections.

• Always wear clean and dry cotton socks. Do keep extra pair of socks so that you can change them once you reach your destination after the travel.

• Do consult your family physician in case of infections neglecting any warts or lesions on feet can leads to serious skin problems. Use safety shoes for your foot.
