Tips for Foot Care in Monsoon

After the long wait of almost four months, finally there comes the season of high spirits, greenery and ecstasy known as monsoon. It spreads greenery and heart throbbing change in the atmosphere that not only delights only the human kind but gratifies every small big creature of the world. Thus, it is most loved seasonal change of the year that brings freshness to every bit of Mother Nature in splendid way.

Coming of the monsoon season is typically characterized as wet, humid and sticky climate which is also known to be the breeding ground for fungal, bacteria and other feet diseases. It is often caused by wearing dirty shoes throughout the day, as a result you return with smelly and unclean feet at home in the evening.

Foot care takes a back seat when compared to our other beauty treatments. Unfortunately, a little care is given to the most strained and worked out part - the feet. Thus, this article will give you tips to keep your feet clean and hygienic during this torrential downpour.

• Intense cleansing of feet is very important in monsoon because they get accumulated with dirt and mud. Wash your feet with antiseptic water as soon as you reach home and keep them clear of any infections. Use natural disinfectants like soda and vinegar in a tub of warm water to kill bacteria.

• Avoid scrubbing your feet during monsoon which can cause nicks or sensitive skin prone to infections. So, just cleaning and keep them dry that is enough.

• Make a mixture of water and lemon in equal quantity and use tissue or cotton to apply it to your feet. This will help you to remove the odor and also smooth your feet.

• Do not neglect the spaces between your toes and fingers. Dry them properly and sprinkle talcum powder between them. There are higher chances of fungal infection in the spaces.

• After drying, trim your nails and push back the cuticle. Then rinse your feet once again and pat them dry to apply moisturizer for the feet. Moisturizer must be applied every night before sleeping as it will not only help you get rid of the dead skin but also, keep your legs flexible.

• Applying petroleum jelly on feet after cleaning helps to moisturize and prevent water contact directly with skin as it repels water.

• Do not wear closed, tight-fitting footwear as wearing boots and shoes hold water thereby, making it sodden. So, use only slippers or sandals instead.

• Always keep a separate dry pair of work shoes at your office, college locker. So you can swap the wet footwear with dry ones when you reach your work place. That way you avoid sitting uncomfortably in the wet footwear and invite less infections.

• Always wear clean and dry cotton socks. Do keep extra pair of socks so that you can change them once you reach your destination after the travel.

• Do consult your family physician in case of infections neglecting any warts or lesions on feet can leads to serious skin problems. Use safety shoes for your foot.
Have a lovely monsoon this time!
